1938 Diary of Vada Paris

August - 1938

(Merle forgot to call her and made some sort of excuses, but Vada says, "What does it matter." A John H. and a Les Snyder made their way into the picture. Does anyone out there know who John H. is? )

1, Monday - Merle was supposed to call, but didn't. I went to bed pretty early. Collected today for Warrick.

2, Tuesday - It's really swell not to have to go to school. Date with Merle. He can really make excuses. "What does it matter?"

3, Wednesday - Gladys and I started to show. Kenneth and Armond R. picked us up and took us out to the ballgame. Got home about 11:30.

4, Thursday - Merle and I are not getting along so well. Gladys and I went up to the Ark.

5, Friday - Got some sleep tonight. Ate some watermellon and went to bed.

6, Saturday - Worked pretty hard today. Warren has gone on his vacation.

7, Sunday - Layed around all day. Getting rested up after school. Hope I never have to go back.

8, Monday - Tired and sleepy today. Gladys and I went to show.

9, Tuesday - Worked hard today. Ate supper downtown.

10, Wednesday - Got a letter from John H. Went to bed early this evening.

11, Thursday - Still tired and sleepy. Merle and John H. are both gone. Merle is at Poteau, Okla.

12, Friday - Might get to go home Sun. Don't feel very good today.

13, Saturday - Worked pretty hard. Claude brought me home. Tried to call to Seiling, but couldn't.

14, Sunday - Called. Went home at noon. Came back about 9 o'clock.

15, Monday - Back to work. Would like to go home for a whole week.

16, Tuesday - Tired and feel awful. Went to the show with Gladys.

17, Wednesday - Date with Merle. Wonder if I'll ever get to go to bed at a decent time.

18, Thursday - Merle and I went to the show. Got a card from Eithel.

19, Friday - Got a telegram from John H. saying he would be home tomorrow. Gladys and I messed around this evening.

20, Saturday - John H. and Don got back from camp. What an evening and did we ever celebrate. Lots of fun.

21, Sunday - Gladys and Don, John and I went on a picnic. Did we have fun. Got back to Alva and went to the show.

22, Monday - Merle and I together again tonight. He's a dam good guy. Sorta like him.

23, Tuesday - Merle brought me home from work. We went riding this evening.

24, Wednesday - Merle and I went out to the farm. Not so bad to look at. Got home about midnight.

25, Thursday - Merle and his mother left today for New York. He came down at noon before he left.

26, Friday - Sorta lonesome around the place. Merle and John H. both gone. Stayed at home tonight.

27, Saturday - Work early and late. Gladys, Bonnie, and I went over to Noll's after getting off work. Bonnie and I went to dance.

28, Sunday - Went up to Ethel's and worked on Sorority Party. Came home early. T. Ensminger called. No go.

29, Monday - John H. got back from the city. We went riding in the rain. Gee! But it's swell.

30, Tuesday - John H. and I went to the show. Came home pretty early. Don't feel so good. Raining tonight.

31, Wednesday - Went to Hardtner with Les Snyder. had a grand time. Got home about 2 o'clock. What a rain.
