Dear Mom,

Well I see I got another one of those extra nice letters you can write when you want to. It was a very nice Birthday present and I'm very grateful of course.

I can certainly assure you that you won't be any happier to see me than I will to come home. It looks like now that this month will be the month too. Well it sure won't be a bit hard to climb on that boat.

While I think of it tell Merle I doubt if I will have a chance to get anymore instruments because I won't be going back to Germany, but that I intend to sell those that I have. If he should get a good offer for them to go ahead and sell them. I will sell the whole bunch for $1000 any day. Thats not a bad price at all although they are worth that much I think.

Golly thats fine about getting the Hatcher place fixed up. Didn't know that gas & electricity was so available. That will sure be a nice place for someone. You know I never knew that you actually owned the house. I thought it was everything but the house. How did you happen to get a hold of that?

Glad you came out on the Liston (or Linton) houses. You've certainly had a time with them haven't you?

I see your cattle business is definitely up to snuff so I guess you haven't many complaints after all. The calves certainly are bringing a darn good price to. I really think the price will stay up for qutie a while, don't you?

I'm very anxious to get home and have a good long talk with you, to see where I stand. You can realize of course how I am feeling. I hardly know anything, but the army and I've learned all I want to of that. Harold Vinson can certainly have my share. I'll bet he's sick of it himself.

Now that I'm back from school I don't know what I will have to do. I don't guess very much because I will be going home to soon to warrant assigning me to some job that will last very long.

I'm really finally beginning to gain back some of that excessive weight I lost the first six months I was over here. Golly I eat all the time and am hungry all the time too. I sure could go for some of your cooking though anythime.

Haven't been doing much letter writing lately what with final exams in the French, ect. (etc). Had a big graduation exercise and everything. Believe it or not ai got a "B" out of the course after all, guess it was mainly because of my politicin' the teacher rather than the amount of French I knew.

Well! I'll be calling you one of these days soon, mom so take care of yourself and get that larder stocked up.

Love,
Bob
