Uncle Bob's LegacyBob's Letter To Mom(After his return from Europe and his return to University of Kentucky at Lexington, KY.) September 24, 1938, Lexington, KY Dear Mom, Well, I'm coming along fine. i had my sillihoute - yo know a picture of my posture - taken yesterday. It will be retaken Christmas. There going to take that kink out of my neck yet. I haven't heard from anybody lately, but I imagine everything is all right. I was mighty glad to get those papers from you, thanks a lot. I really don't have enough stamps, though we get five ever ten days and I always have to borrow three or four. When you send my things, I want a pair of tennis shoes.throw in and about a dozen more handkerchiefs. I've had a cold for the last week and have used up all my handkerchiefs and started over again. I wrote J. B. Doolin the other day and have written, Merle and Warren. I will have to answer a few letters pretty soon, too. How is the enrollment at Alva this year. I hope it is up to par. Say - I'll bet Merle is sure a well drressed boy this winter, isn't he, with our ward robes combined. Well, I don't blame him. I'd do the same thing if I was in his place. I guess I told you about the trip we are taking friday about fourty miles over for a football game. The band has been practicing pretty hard for about a week on some good stunts to pull. I had to wait for aobut a week for all of my uniforms. they had to order it, but It finally got here. I sure am a cute little buger. Well, Mom, write me all the dirt when you get time and I'll do right by you in return. I believe the most impressive thing here is the honesty of the cadets. They don't touch a thing that doesn't belong to them. You see money, watches and rings and everything laying around and nobody will take it. This is sure a lot different thn at National Guard Camp. Lovel, I'll be expecting to hear from you soon. © 2008 by WWWPubCo & OkieLegacy.org All Rights Reserved.
