Austin Won Out

San Antonio populace tried its hand at umpire baiting.
(Houston Post Special)

San Antonio, Texas, May 15 -- After San Antonio had secured what seemed an insurmountable lead in the first inning, when three runs were scored, that team from Austin finally won today's game by a score of 8 to 3. The Waterloo came in the sixth and seventh innings and the slugging ability developed by Austin was assisted _____ in run-getting by some very raw _____ by Umpire Payne, whose eye w__ all to the bad.

Thompson, for San Antonio, had pitched an excellent game up to the sixth inning and had had good support by his teammates.

The grand stand was against the umpire and he was hooted on every decision rendered and the players were freely advised from the grand stand to swat him instead of the ball.
